An internet outage affecting SUNY’s Information Technology Exchange Center (ITEC) where our Banner and BearPAWS is hosted has left these services unreachable. We have been informed that technicians are on-site repairing damaged fiber optic cable. We will post again when we have an update.
The maintenance on the campus firewall is complete.
The manufacturer of our firewall appliance has recommended the immediate application of a software update in order to address a critical operational issue. This will require a reboot of the firewall resulting in a brief loss of internet connection for the campus. During this time, all academic and administrative buildings will lose access to the internet, including e-mail and Moodle. Off-campus and residence hall access to Moodle and e-mail should be unaffected. Any active VPN sessions will be disconnected and need to be re-established after the update. Campus phone service will be uninterrupted. The upgrade will take place TODAY, January 24, 2019 at 9:00 PM. CTS will post to the Announcements & System Status blog when the update is complete and service has been restored. If you have questions or concerns, please e-mail Romeyn Prescott: prescor@potsdam.edu
ITEC is no longer seeing symptoms from the DDoS attack with one of its hosted campuses. Banner/BearPAWS/BearDeN should be performing normally at this time.
The upgrades to PACES servers have been completed. Testing is ongoing, but all services are functional again.
ITEC is currently experiencing DDoS attack with one of its hosted campuses. This can potentially cause Banner/BearPAWS/BearDeN to be slow or unexpectedly disconnected. They expect to have it resolved soon and we will post another message when they confirm resolution.
The upgrade of the PACES CSGold system is in progress. Certain aspects of Campus Card services may be unavailable during the upgrade. This includes Bear Express transactions, balance inquiries, adding money, and photo uploads. We will make a post at the end of the day or when the upgrade is complete; whichever comes first.
