This evening at 11PM, the campus mail infrastructure will undergo a two-hour maintenance window. During the window, batches of users will be unable to check their mail for periods of time. Additionally, mail will be queued for delivery once the window is complete.
A key piece of network storage experienced a system fault which consequently brought down an isolated group of services. Services affected included Moodle, Blogs/Status Page, Online Directory, & Mailing Lists. Engineers are currently working to restore all services to normal operating conditions.
We are aware of Banner SLOWNESS and that BearPAWS is unreachable. Technicians are working on the problem now.
Banner/BearPAWS and HR Time Accounting are responsive now. Continuing to look into the issue that caused this system slowness/unresponsiveness.

Select systems that write data to the campus directory server are currently unavailable. Engineers are aware of the situation and working to resolve the problem. An estimated time of completion is not currently available.
Helios experienced a system fault and needed to be rebooted. All services should be available again at this time.
Shortly after this mornings announcement, technicians were able to recover the latest version of the Mailguard database. Users with custom settings may still want to verify them. For more information about Mailguard, please visit http://www.potsdam.edu/cts/services/emailservice/mailguard.cfm.
The Mailguard database experienced a serious fault, requiring the restore of a dated (old) backup set. Users who have customized any of Bearmail’s settings, such as whitelist or blacklist settings, should login to mailguard.potsdam.edu to review them for accuracy.
